In today’s business climate, it is very important to plan the advertising and marketing budget. A good plan is one that is reviewed monthly and quarterly. It should contain goals, objectives, and action items. It also needs to be flexible as the business changes. The marketing plan goals or tactics should differentiate the business from the competition.
Once it is developed, keep in mind that it will change! It might be necessary to add more funds into the budget due to new services, product(s), or an event in the middle of the year.
It isn’t so important as sticking to the budget, as long as the ROI is achieving the marketing goals. So, it is important to include a plan for measuring what you spend. If the return is low in some areas, it isn’t always a good idea to eliminate it, but it may need to be realized that it will take longer to see a result. Some things are harder to tract, but necessary. It is important to consider the impact of not having them before you rein it in.
It is so important to spend the time developing a marketing and advertising plan with a professional. It is not a straight percentage that so many companies fall victim of. The plan will define how your business connects to your customers. And that is an investment worth making.
